The hair transplantation is a painstaking and delicate surgery. Therefore, we require the patient to correctly follow a series of recommendations before hair transplantation and also after surgery. These guidelines are essential to obtain good results.
Among the most important tips for after hair transplantation we would highlight the most (in chronological order after the intervention):
1) Do not use the car right after surgery, since due to the medication supplied, you will not be in optimal conditions for driving even if you are perfectly at the exit from the center.
2) Opt for a light meal and easily digestible food after surgery.
3) Do not consume alcohol for 48 hours and it is also recommended not to smoke during the following days.
4) Start the prescribed medication (antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and stomach protector). The use of pain relievers and medication to promote rest is not usual, although you can take them if necessary.
5) Wear ample clothing to avoid friction when putting it on that could damage the grafts.
6) Apply cold to the forehead as a preventive measure to avoid inflammation.
7) Sleep with your head slightly elevated the first few days, supporting the back of the head, avoiding friction with the grafted area.
8) Start the washes in the donor area the next day. Apply an iodized solution and later Aloe Vera Gel for its anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, healing, and soothing action.
9) In the receiving area, a few sprays of thermal water and seawater are applied during the first days and afterward, the washes are started with great caution and without rubbing.
10) At 12-14 days the stitches are removed or we will simply do the first check depending on the technique used and the application of Rosehip Oil begins to stimulate the donor area to heal.
11) You can resume sports practice for 2 weeks.
12) You can start applying Minoxidil topical lotion if appropriate between 15-30 days post-surgery.
13) You should avoid direct exposure to sunlight for 1 month.
In any case, and although all these recommendations for after a hair transplant are discussed with the patient on the day of surgery and delivered in writing for prompt compliance, a contact telephone number is always provided to the patient so that you can ask any questions. or unlikely complications that could arise after the intervention.
In the case of having to consume any medication, we will only choose the one that has been indicated by our doctor. If we are going to require a different medication, we must consult before consuming it, since it can negatively affect it. On the other hand, we must take an antibiotic the same night that the intervention is performed, as well as every 12 hours until the end of the following day, that is, in total there will be three doses that will begin the night of the intervention, the following will be the next day for the morning, and the third at night of that new day.
As for pain relievers, they will generally be consumed every six hours or depending on what our doctor has told us. It is very important to avoid consuming anti-inflammatories and aspirins for at least three days after the intervention since in this way we will avoid increased bleeding.
